Happy New Year!

Out with the old and in with the new.  I have been praying my guts out for a better year than 2009.  Although it could be much worse than it was I am just really looking for a more successful year than the last.  I have some new plans, projects and ideas on the drawing board to bring you in 2010.

Big 'Thank Yous' to Candace in Patchogue, NY!!!  She's my first internet sale of the year...woohoo!  It's packed and ready to go out in tomorrow's mail.  She found a fun piece on Arts A Flutter's website.  Come by and check out my products please at http://www.artsaflutter.com/.  I'm Twiddlebugz Designz.

It's Christmas in July

for me at Arts A Flutter. The fall and winter seasons are on my mind and being that it's July...well my pieces had to be Christmas. I've posted several items for this month's listings at Arts A Flutter. This grungy snowman is just one of my listing...this is your sneak peek. Please stop in and see them if you get a chance. Look for me in the artists directory and click on the phrase under my name. I've got lots of the snowman and santa ornies and I've also included a sign. There are many great artists at Arts A Flutter and I'm glad to be included among them.

My First French Market

Today I attended my first French Market, it's a farmers market on the northwest end of town that just started this month. Today was it's second event. It's Las Vegas and it's mid May...I was totally not looking forward to the heat. Today was the first day it's supposed to break 100 degrees. But I have to admit, it was really nice on the grass, under the tents, in the shade. The breeze was lovely...not too much...just right.
Jason did a great job. All the tents were up when we got there, check in was easy, french music played all day, yummy veggies of all sorts, roasted corn, cool crafts, pleasant atmosphere, good neighbors, and more. This event will take time to grow and I think it will be awesome by the time it gets there.
Thanks to my family and friends that came by to visit and support me. I really appreciate it. It was nice to catch up with each other. Please come back to see me there on May 30.

old rabbit

Here is a project that has taken me over a year to complete. I designed, stitched and stuffed the body last year. A couple of months ago I dug him out and painted, and sanded his body. Last month I dressed him, last week I finished his face. So, you can see, he is already been around awhile but glad to finally be finished. I just love him! Here is the discription I gave him today when I listed him on my Etsy and Artfire accounts.

This ol' rabbit has been working hard in his garden and harvested some carrots. He is an original design by myself, Crystal Martin. He measures +/-36 inches from the tip of his ears to the bottom of his huge feet. After stuffing, his body was spray painted black and sanded to give an aged look. Note that there is wire in his ears so you can bend them to your liking. Clothes were sewn, he was dressed in original clothing also, note the patches on his pants. I drew his facial details on and painted his face. I love his droopy eyes, don't you. I gave him dimensional whiskers from hand-quilting thread since it's stiffer than regular thread. He comes with a bunch of carrots and a tin bucket. This rabbit is weighted so he sits well, and he is quite posable since his legs bend at the knees. He just reminds me of an old soul.
For more photos of him, check him out on TwiddlebugzDesignz.Artfire.com or Twiddlebugz.Etsy.com.
He would love to be adopted and move to a new home!

A few rag quilts

I've been clipping and washing rag quilts since I got home from the hopsital. I think there are eight of them. Today, I finally took some photos and listed a few of them on artfire.com and etsy.com. These all measure about 40"x40" after washing.

These first two have Warm and Natural batting between 2 layers of flannel, making them extra warm and cozy for baby. I enjoy the colors for little girls (especially since I never had any).

These next to quilts are more boy oriented. I always try to make boy stuff since girly stuff (while it's fun to make) is so much easier to find. This one has a fun and comical dog print as wel as a multi colored stripe.
No batting between the 2 flannel layers on these. They are still cozy and warm but perfect for car seats and outings since it's not so heavy and bulky.
The other one is has 3 prints, including a multi-colored stripe, a marbled red, and a really cool bug print. I know several little boys who would love this one.

An finally, a unisex quilt for either boy or girl. It features a light blue print with a smiling star and cloud. A blue star print and additional yellow star print complete this wonderful rag quilt.
You can find these at my Etsy and Artfire sites or you can contact me directly for gift giving at your next baby shower invite.

Today I've been painting a little. Timm is working on water lines so when I dumped dirty water, guess what...no more water to fill the water basin to keep painting. Totally spaced it. I've got some sewing out now and this dang computer sucked me in again.
