Getting away

It's hotter than Haities here in Vegas and we will be heading out bright and early in the morning for Utah. A long weekend of riding quads with friends...I love it. This picture was from 2 years ago in the Hatch area...which is wear we are going. The scenery is awesome up there on the Paunsagunt Trail near Tropic Reservoir with beautiful vistas on the Bryce Canyon area. I will post new pictures when I return. See ya!

Slow Craft Show & Old Tires...Not a good combination

This crazy group of gals are members of the Las Vegas Crafters Guild that participated in the show along with a handful of other ladies. The two gals in the front of the zaniest of us all...they are so fun!

Last weekend a small group of women from a 'meet-up' group got together and held a craft show. Although we had lots of fun and enjoyed spending time with and getting to know each other better the over all success of the show was not what we had all hoped for. Sales were extremely slow. It was held at a car dealership. They have a community room there anyone can use for free. The room was not the problem, it's the fact that the dealership is new and in a location that is difficult to get to. There are only 2 dealerships on that road.
Here are some of my dollies that were for sale at the show. I did sell one to another vendor for her daughter. Infact, she bought the blonde one in the picture below.
Now I know my trailer needs new tires....but hey, I fugured I could get accross town and back with no problem...WRONG! I was heading home Saturday night and all of a sudden...POW!..tire tread was flying everywhere. I pulled off the freeway at the next exit to examine the damage. Just the tread seperated from the tire so it was still holding air. Since I had no spare with me (it had blown another tire just a few weeks ago while my son took it camping....but hey...that a story for another day) I decided I had to try toget it home, so back on the freeway I go (slowly). I decided to head to Walmart to get it fixed...they were locked up tight in the garage area...so I hobbled it home the next 14 miles at 30 miles an hour down Boulder Highway to Lamb to home. I was pretty concerned about losing the rest of the tire...but hey...what else was I supposed to do. I had to get the trailer home....I know it was a stupid move on my part...but I kept praying all the way home and God made sure I got there...Thank you. I will need to get new tires before I go out again.

Happy Birthday Scott!

Yesterday was my oldest son, Scott's birthday. The little bugger turned 24. I honestly do not know where the time goes but it flies away quickly. He is my little Twiddlebug. I absolutely love this photo of him. He was 17 in this photo and working on staff at Del Webb High Adventure Camp. It is our Boy Scout Council's high adventure camp. He ran the 'rocks' team that year, teaching scouts to climb and rappel. In this photo he was on a hike called, 'The Subway' in Zion National Park. You can tell he is having the time of his life.
Today, he is recently married (see previous post) to a sweet gal named Christy. He met her in Minnesota while he was there for training for his job. He works as a mechanic for a concrete pumping company here in Las Vegas. He really enjoys working on the heavy equipment on of the spectrum...says it is much more interesting.
Anyway, life marches one apparently. Happy Birthday, Scott! Love, Mom

Let freedom ring

Okay, so the title is a little gimmicky. I painted several of these bells this weekend. They are giant jingle bells almost 9" across. I plan to use most of them for Christmas but was in the mood to paint and they were in the closet. The top of the bell reads "America" all the way around and the bottom reads "My County Tis Of Thee, Sweet Land Of Liberty". I did lots of crosshatching on each section to give it some detail and texture. I really like the way it turned out. I put these bells on the Etsy shop and my website if you're interested in purchasing one.

Summer and Americana

Summer and Americana were just made to go together...it just seems to ooze patriotism. We kick it off with Memorial Day then we march onto Flag Day (6/14)...Independence Day....Labor Day...Patriot Day (9/11) before we really call the end of summer. We celebrate with parades, festivals, picnics and BBQ's with friends and family. Many of us decorate with Americana all year round...I'm one of them. I just love our flag, I tear up when I hear the national anthem and say the Pledge of Alligiance, I know I am priviledged to live in this wonderful country. I am thankful for all our armed forces and what they do for each and every one of us. I grew up next to Nellis Air Force Base and still live very close by. The sounds of aircraft flying over head is just an everyday affair I have grown to truly appreciate...I tell others that complain about the noise that it is the sounds of freedom, it normally shuts them up.

Here are a few of my Americana creations I wanted to share with you. I hope you enjoy them...you can purchase them too it you desire.

She's a special girl

This little girl has a special bond with her daddy...can you tell. Cassy is Timm's special girl. He will do most anything for her that's for sure. This picture I thought was so cute. It was taken after we had been out on our 4 wheelers all day. Cassy went to by the way. They were both pretty tired.
