A couple of St Paddy's wreaths

Seriously, I love playing with this deco mesh stuff for wreaths.  It's so much fun.  I made a couple of wreaths for St. Paddy's Day.
This one I made for my manicurist.  There will be one for every season for her.

This one is still up for grabs folks.  It's about 24" across has a metal pot of gold and great sparkly ribbons.  The lettering on the pot is glittered as well.

Road Trip and Some New Places for Me

I've been itching to get out for a road trip for some time now.  Timm's ATV needs to get a new battery...good news...it's under warranty.  Monday, I headed up to Cedar City with Cassy to get the new battery.  It was such a pretty day...warm and sunny.

I used to sell my crafts in Cedar City at the Cedar Antique and Craft Mall.  Gosh, I miss those days. I've been wanting to find some new stores to add to my day trips to St. George and Cedar.  Most of my favorites have gone by the way side.  :(

Last time I was up that way I found Dandelion Wishes in St George.  It's a scrapbook/crafty store.  They had some wood, finished goods, great ideas and more. This time I found some good Christmas nativity pieces...I know it's only February but we crafters have to start early.  Cute, huh.
Snooping around on Facebook last week I found out that Wood Creations recently opened up a store in Washington.  It's like Vegas and Henderson...they run right into each other.  I jumped off at Green Springs (I always refer to it as exit 10) and found my way to my newest favorite place...Wood Creations Dixie.
I purchased some cute kits with the plans on making them for some classes, shows, Etsy, etc.  Unfortunately, they only stock the current upcoming holidays but I can hunt down some ideas from last season on the web.
I think I'll be keeping this one for me.
I thought this one was adorable.
I guess I have some work to do now.

I have to admit, I didn't hit some of my normal stops.  As much as I love and adore Cassy, it is more difficult to shop with her.  Maybe God meant that for me this week.   :)

There were some other places I'd like to check out but that will have to wait until the next trip.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

A few Valentine wreaths

I don't normally do too much for Valentine's Day but I've had this wood heart with the word LOVE all over it since last year so I decided to do something with it finally.

I working with this mesh stuff.  This wreath has three rounds of it in two different colors.  It's detailed with sparkly hearts and sprays along with black and white polka dot ribbon.
I had so much fun with it I just had to make a couple more.

I hunted down this awesome chalkboard plaque and stenciled the word LOVE on it.  It's also got a bit of sparkly ribbon and hearts around the bow for detail.
I was only going to make two, but I also purchased this glittery Valentine word and the heart garland so I figured I better make a third one.

This is a lighter one with the red and white striped mesh...it has silver in it as well.  I finished it off with the same red hearts and sprays as the others.
I'm trying to use all the materials this year instead of hanging on to them.  No more hearts, sprays or Valentine words to hang around.
If you like them and your local, scoot on over to Forget Me Not's Floral and Gift at Craig and Jones.
I can also ship them if your out of town.  Just leave me a note in the comments.

Chris and Bri's mountain wedding

On Saturday, January 11 our youngest son, Chris married his fiance, Bri at
The Lodge on Mt. Charleston outside of Las Vegas.
It was a beautiful day and the bridal party was looking fabulous.
I feel very blessed to say Chris'  Uncle John (from Washoe Valley) performed the ceremony.  He just seemed like the perfect man for the job since he was involved with the engagement.  Chris and Bri were staying at his home for the weekend when Chris asked her to marry him at Lake Tahoe.
Bri is an animal lover and works as a vet tech.  Her dog, Titus was the ring bearer and did a great job.

Chris and Bri wrote their own vows.  The words that came out of my son's mouth were pure love and poetry.  Who knew that was in him!  Many tears were in the eyes of the guests at that point.  I think her expression in the photo says it all. (She swore she wouldn't cry...but she did)
This is me...mother of the groom.  I made all the floral arrangements, bouquets and decorations.
I used pine for all the greens since it was a mountain wedding.
What a great looking bunch of guys!
Scott (brother and best man), Chris (the groom), Chris Russell (best friend), Charles (cousin)

The happy couple!

Happy New Year

Vegas goes all out to celebrate New Year's.  Here is a peek at all the fireworks on the strip last night.  Fremont Street Experience rocks it as well.  News reports say over 300,000 people came to celebrate in Vegas this year.
I have to say I am so glad that I was not one of those folks on the strip.  Our New Year's Eve day was spent firing up the pit and cooking up 4 briskets, 2 chickens, two dozen or so jalapeno poppers, and cabbage.  Dinner was delicious!  I hope everyone else enjoyed their briskets as well.
I spent some time working on the studio.  It's really starting to come along, things are starting to get organized and put away anyway.  I hope to show you some photos I'm not embarrassed by.  Crafters know what I mean...how unorganized I am...how much stuff I tend to gather.  Seriously, there is a lot of stuff that needs to leave the property.
Anyway, I'm wishing all of you a very happy new year full of fun, family, love, friendships, faith, and...loads of crafty goodness!
