A Sewing Lesson
Last Saturday while the guys were building a shade structure in the back yard at Scott and Christy's, I taught Christy to sew. A couple of weeks ago she bought some beautiful elephant flannel in Cedar City on a weekend get-away. We went shopping and bought some coordinating fabric so she could make a blanket for her friend, Melissa.
She hadn't touched a sewing machine since 7th grade. I brought my spare machine over and we set up for the day of fun. She picked it up well, and was off and running.
Here is the finished project. It's a nice sized 5 foot by 7 foot flannel blanket with a double layer of warm and natural inside to keep her friend warm in those cold Minnesota winters. The front and back are the same.
I'm so proud of my daughter-in-law!

Window Painting Season
It's that time of year to spread some holiday cheer! I've been out and about Thanksgiving weekend painting windows. My youngest son, Chris is my helper and I enjoy getting to spend time with him.
Some of the locations even got a cowboy snowman and cactus.
Signposts are popular.
Penguins have been popular this year.
I did a custom theme for the Boulder Dam Credit Union to go with their Angel Tree program.
I love their wings.
If you'd like your windows done, just give me a call at 702-595-5018

Thank You
Words are not enough. I thank you today...and everyday. I'm thankful members of my family have given and sacrificed in service to our country. Thank you to all who have and still do serve our country. You are our true heroes!!!

A New Design
A new Santa is on the workbench today. I've been thinking about him a couple of days now and finally cut him out, in fact, I cut two of him. He's a large piece, almost 30" tall. I'm planning to create a pattern for him to put on my Etsy site and have him completed for next weekend's show, Busy Bees Craft Boutique. I cut him the rough cut wood I've stock piled, I love that stuff...lots of texture for some great additional detail. Next post, hopefully the completed piece.

Election Day
It's finally here! This has been a long, long, ugly, negative, mud-slinging compaign season and we all need to do our part and get out and VOTE!!!! Let's do our part and make a change for the better. My momma always said if you don't vote, don't complain...so get out and do your part to make our next 4 years the best it can be. We desperately need to turn this economy around, people need jobs, they need to take responsibility for themselves, get off their butts, get off welfare, food stamps and unemployment and become productive members of society. It will take a ton of work, but it can happen. Get out, vote and make a change.
I am looking forward to getting rid of the negativity, finger pointing, and political commercials. Let's put that effort into making a positive impact on this nation with jobs, production, and a better economy.

The Craft Festival
My last "big" show is this weekend. We'll be at Cashman Center this Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10-6. I went in to set up this morning with the help of my hubby. He'll help set walls, tables, etc but not put out product...I admit I do move things around when he does help with that part so I can't really blame him. Diane will be in to set her items after work so it will be full when I get there in the morning.
I need to aplogoze to Rachel. I was supposed to be in her home show this weekend as well but I had a melt down and am feeling overwhelmed. I'm sorry I over committed and can't be there Rachel...I'm really sorry. Be sure to swing up be her home just off Stewart and Hollywood for some really fabulous wreaths, decor and more. Her work is gorgeous!!!
I still have a couple more shows on my schedule and there is still crafting to be done. I'll update you on those next week. In the mean time, have a great weekend and I hope to see you at The Craft Festival!

Almost Art in the Park
Fall really seems like it's here when Art in the Park rolls around. It's starting to cool down...finally. Eveyone is excited and happy to be there. It's my biggest show of the year. Thankfully, I have my same location as in years past. It's a great space for us since we are asked to hold larger items until our customers have finished their rounds. Having no one behind us (and extra space) is a real blessing. We set up tomorrow, it's a long day for me. I'm planning on taking photos of the booth at mulitple stages so you can see the progress.
Look for us in spaces 393-394 near the playground in Bicentennial Park. Stop in, shop and say 'Hello'. We look forward to seeing all of you.

Our 30th
Time flies when you're having fun is what they say. I don't know how 30 years went so fast, that's for sure. It's been quite a journey with lots of adventures, fun, struggles and joy along the way.
We've been blessed with two wonderful boys that we've put our heart and soul into. So much of our lives have been about them. I stayed home to raise them and am proud to say they have never spent a day in daycare. I know that is not possible for many parents, and I need to say we sacrificed a lot to make that happen. It's not something easy to do that's for sure, and I had the good fortune to have my parents and Timm's parents there to lend a helping hand (and advise) when needed. Scott married a wonderful gal, Christy 4 1/2 years ago. Chris has been dating Bri for a year now. They both have great gals.
We've been through lots of activities and hobbies. Timm was one ranked 3rd in the state in archery and traveled for several tournaments. I tried it, I wasn't good at it. He gave that up when our boys hit Cub Scout age and we gave 17 years, time, money, vacations and vehicles to the Scouting program. I wouldn't change a bit of it though...good program, good values, good people. I know we touched countless lives through packs, troops, crews and training. For me, crafting and painting has been a constant through out the years and continues to be a source of income and pleasure for me.
We've always been outdoor people. We love camping, hiking, exploring, and more. We got our first ATVs 10 years ago. In fact, Timm surprised me with mine for our 20th anniversary. We've had a great time with them and have met some great people there too. It looks like we'll be heading to the Moab area in December for our anniversary trip.
Our immediate plans are tied up in BBQ competitons and will be traveling to Bentonville Arkansas this month for the Sam's Club National Finals.
Happy anniversary Timm, I love you more than life itself and look forward to growing old with you in a life full of love, family and adventure.

Show and Tell Friday
I've been up to my ears in frames these days as I prep for the fall/winter craft show season. I love these word board/picture frame combos...and apparently so does eveyone else because I keep selling them before they get packed in a box. I know, I shouldn't whine...Im' grateful in fact.
I promise to have a large selection complete for my shows so you'll have plenty to choose from. If you have a particular phrase you want, don't hesitate to contact me so I can personalize one for you.

Craft Wars
Did you watch it?!
I am so excited to see a new craft TV...and in prime time to boot! It comes on at 7pm in Las Vegas (pacific standard time). Tori Spelling is the host of the show and she's too cute being preggers and all. I personally think she needs to tone down the lipstick a few notches but she's still cute.
The first episode was a bit crazy, but I'm sure it will all fall into place. I loved the playhouse challenge and the red school house...stinking adorable. The school bus was cute and more interactive but more messy than the school house.
Set your DVR's for Tuesday's Craft Wars and let's all watch together.

My Niece's Graduation
My niece, Samantha graduated last week from Cimmeron-Memorial High School here in Las Vegas. We are all so proud of her! She graduated with high honors and plans to attend UNLV next year. She was born at 26 weeks gestation and weighed in at just 2 pounds, 5 ounces. She is a miracle.
Her sister, Amanda graduates next year. Big changes are happening at my sister's house for sure.
