The not so strong me...

It's been a rough couple of weeks for me around here.  I want to apologize right now for being so wimpy about things but sometimes it's just hard to be strong all the time.
My youngest son, Chris decided to move out with his fiance and rent a house together.  Yes, he needed to move on and start his life again but it all happened so quickly.  I'm not sure they were financially ready but again, I'm reminded that struggle builds character and we all start off with almost nothing.  Don't get me wrong, he needs to and has been ready to move for quite a while.  I am proud of him but it hurts to see him leave. Besides, I'm old fashioned...I not totally comfortable with them living together.  I fear the wedding plans which have barely started will come to a complete halt since they now have the final desired outcome.
I've been struggling with my weight...which is a never ending battle for all women...well 99% anyway.  Since Valentine's Day I've gained 9 pounds.  My hubby is so good to me and never says anything but I do a really good job of beating myself up in that department.  The cortisone shots in my knees have worn off so they are  pretty sore these days and the extra weight doesn't help.  The pain makes it pretty difficult to get out and walk and get some exercise.  Good news is only two more weeks before the next round of shots.  Pretty sad that I look forward to them but I do.  Funny to think that I was the one standing on the hospital bed 8 1/2 months pregnant (with Chris by the way) yelling at the nurse saying no one was touching me with an epidural needle until my hubby came out of the bathroom (he was putting his disposable gown on).  I must have been quite a sight.  I can laugh now and have an awesome young man I call my youngest son.
I think all of this has bothered me so badly since I entered my 5th decade this week.  I was really going to be the one that turning 50 didn't bother.  It's just a number.  I don't know what it is about these milestones in life that bother us so much.  Thirty was easy for me, even 40 wasn't so bad.  This one is really hard for me...but I know in a couple of weeks it won't be such a big deal.  But right now I'm feeling pretty wimpy.
I promise a more uplifting post next time around.  ;0)

A couple of new things

Here's a couple of things I did this week.  These pieces were created with 'blanks' from Krumpets in St. George.  They offer them with their designs on them but now sell them blank as well for your own creations.
I combined 2 pieces to create this home sign.
These are the single one with two different sayings on them.  I re-painted the flower on each one and added the lettering.  Simple and quick, yet it's still a piece I created myself.

craft show

What's better than a craft show during national craft month...some out and shop This and That Craft Boutique this week for some really cute stuff.

Say it isn't so...

Another cute store full of adorable things is closing.  St. George used to be so full of places I would have on my list of places to visit, but over the last several years they've been closing one by one. Sadly, Krumpets closed their Santa Clara store end of December moving everyone to the St. George location.  I received this email a day or two makes me so sad.
They responded and stated that they would be at events throughout the year and that they have an on-line store to order from.  I'm sorry, it's just not the same.  I feel bad for their employees too.  They just went through a big shake up and now this.

I've been working on trying to get swags completed for each holiday.  Here area a couple of the Easter ones.
I love the little glittered bunnies.  I bought them at Hobby Lobby.  I should have cleared the shelf of them, instead I only got 8 of them....:0(

A few projects

I finally finished these photo holders.  I still have more to create but at least some of them will be ready for the craft show next week.  I love the way they turned out.
I've also been working on some swags during the evening while watching TV.  My manicurist got this one for St. Patty's Day.
She also got these cute set of shamrocks.  Although it doesn't show up well, they are covered in glitter.  I purchased the wood from The Wood Connection.

A Hall Tree

Well a tree painted in the hall anyway...;0)

I painted this tree in the hallway at my son and daughter in law's home over the weekend.  We all love love love the way it turned out.

Christy loves owls so I had to add one to the tree for her.
I painted a carved heart into the trunk of the tree to give it that true personal tough for them.
Their plan is to place photo frames all over it with pictures of family...a family tree.
I'm glad I was able to do something so special for them.
What a great project for National Craft Month.

WooHoo!  It is time to get some serious crafting going on at my house and's National Craft Month!  I dare each of you to do something crafty everyday in March.
Sew, glue, paint, crochet, knit, cut, bead, quilt, bake, cook, explore crafty websites...what ever it may be that makes you it!  Get creative and take a class.  Organize your craft supplies...or room (s).
My goal is to work on something crafty every day...and show you what it is.
I knew I was born in March for a reason!
